Myetie Hamilton

Myetie Hamilton brings over 25 years of experience leading innovative change in Chicago’s non-profit, education and public sectors. Myetie is the Chief Executive Officer of Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC), the region’s premier civic leadership development organization, and is the first Black woman to serve in this role. As she leads the organization into its next era, Myetie has developed a new strategic vision that includes innovation across its programs, re-engagement of Fellows across classes and sectors, and collaborative activation of the LGC network to scale impact in addressing the region’s most pressing socioeconomic challenges. 

Before joining LGC, Myetie served most recently as the Executive Director of City Year Chicago where she led the largest site of AmeriCorps Members across the national organization. Prior to joining City Year, she served as Executive Director of EPIC Academy, a public charter high school on the far southeast side of Chicago where she led organizational strategy and vision, external relations, fundraising, and board engagement. 

Myetie had an extensive career with Chicago Public Schools (CPS). During her 18-year tenure, she served as Deputy Chief of Schools for Network 9, managing transformation efforts for twenty-eight schools in Chicago’s Woodlawn, Bronzeville, and Hyde Park communities. She also served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the CEO’s Office and Chief of School Support Services for the District. 

Myetie is an active civic leader and volunteer. She serves as Vice-Chair for the Provident Foundation and is a board member of the Museum of Science and Industry and A Better Chicago. She previously served as the President of the Chicago Park District and a Commissioner for the Public Building Commission of Chicago.  She is also a member of the Commercial Club, Economic Club, Business Leadership Council, and the International Women’s Forum Chicago. Additionally, she is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 

Her achievements have earned her numerous honors, including being named to Crain’s Chicago Business 2025 Who’s Who list, recognized as a Crain’s Notable Black Leader and Notable Leader in Community Development and featured among Make It Better’s Top 38 Black Women of Impact. She received the Chicago Defender’s Women of Excellence Award in 2018, and the Community Treasures Award from the Clerk of the Circuit Court in 2020. 

As a sought-after thought leader, Myetie has been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business, the Chicago Defender, and on the cover of the Chicago Citizen and Chicago News Weekly. Myetie was recognized in a feature article in IIT’s Illinois TECH Magazine in June of 2022.    

Myetie holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Alabama A&M University, a master’s degree in public administration from Illinois Institute of Technology and is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow Class of 2016.
