LGC Signature Fellows Program

Overview

The LGC Signature Fellowship is Chicago’s premier civic leadership development program, designed for the region’s most promising leaders. This intensive, yearlong experience immerses participants in the major socioeconomic issues facing the city and region. Ideal candidates are accomplished, cross-sector professionals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to driving meaningful change through civic leadership, collaboration and innovation.

Since 1985, the program has equipped leaders with the knowledge, network and insights needed to navigate complex policy landscapes, understand decision-making processes and make a lasting impact. Fellows engage in retreats, seminars, site visits, discussions with influential leaders and experiential learning activities that deepen their understanding of Chicago’s most pressing challenges and how to address them.

Network

Access to high-level professionals across all sectors and an engaged community of over 1,600 accomplished leaders dedicated to improving Chicago.

Knowledge

A deep dive into the region’s most critical socioeconomic issues, providing the foundation for lifelong civic engagement.

Insight

Exposure to diverse perspectives, leadership styles, and problem-solving approaches that enhance the capacity to drive transformative change.

Application Process

  • Review program time commitment.
  • Confirm support from your sponsoring organization.
  • Complete an online application.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation as part of the application.

Time Commitment

The program requires a significant investment from both the Fellow and their sponsoring organization. Consider whether you can commit the time and energy required for full participation in this year-long leadership development experience, including:

Recognition Ceremonies

2 Retreats (opening and closing)


Monthly sessions
      •  Four of six Leadership Series sessions
      •  Eight First Friday sessions

Supplemental programming
      •  Neighborhood Exploration Groups
      •  Site visits, cultural events, and social activities

Financial Commitment

Sponsoring Organization Contribution
$20,000 for private sponsors and large nonprofits (contribution is scaled for smaller nonprofits, government institutions, and entrepreneurs).

Individual Contribution: $1,500

Contributions cover approximately 200 hours of leadership development, individual coaching, and access to LGC’s extensive network and events during the year-long program.
